In my surf-in, I found a great article today by Seth Godin. As a business owner, this guy makes complicated marketing just plain old simple.

His article really played home the point of keeping things simple and working on what matters to your customer or client.

Focusing on results, thrills and ego just makes a whole lot of sense. Design your marketing around it, and I can only imagine that the ROI is huge every time.

1. Results. If you can offer a return on investment, an engineering solution, more sales, no tax audits, a cute haircut, the fastest rollercoaster, a pristine beach, reliable insurance payouts at the best price, peace of mind, productive consulting or any other measurable result, this is a great place to start.

2. Thrills. More difficult to quantify but often as important, partners and customers respond to heroism. We are amazed and drawn to over the top effort, incredible risk taking on our behalf, the blood, sweat and tears that (rarely) comes from a great partner. A smart person working harder on your behalf than you’d be willing to work–that’s pretty compelling.

3. Ego. Is it nice to feel important? You bet. When you greet us at the door with a glass of white wine, put our name in the lobby of the hotel, actually treat us better than anyone else does (not just promise it, but do it)… This can get old really fast if you industrialize and systemize it, though.

After reading the post you may still be wondering what this has to do with anything… Well, if you are in business perhaps with a website or you have a bricks and mortar business then I think this message is to the point.

If everyday you work on your business focusing on Results, Thrills and Ego, you are developing habits of a successful business.

Take any successful business out there and tell me they are not doing one of those three things really, really well.

Thesis Videoz Review

I got an email the other day from a fellow marketer, Mark Acutt who create Black Belt Live Case Study and now Thesis Videoz

He is the one that finally convinced me to buy the Thesis Theme. Only because  his bonus was what I needed (a pimped out custom.css file).

I had no idea how to do php or css so if it was something I could just copy and paste, then great.

Mark has just release his 2.0 verstion of his files called Thesis Videoz.

He has created 5 videos that show you how to set up wordpress to optimize for seo and also for better functionality.

He includes his beefed up custom.css file, a footer file and a wicked 404 error code.

The css file is just killer as there a lot of great ways to use the code and create killer sales pages and posts and pages as all the h1 tags are formated for great visual appeal.

Then there are all the great color boxes that you can then create focus on different aspects of your copy etc.

No, I have yet to implment the css on this site, so sorry this post is a little boring, but I first wanted to let you know about the thesis videoz package before I add the custom.css code.

This is a review of WPSplitTester Plugin designed by Richard Adams

If I told you that each day I pulled $100 out of my wallet and randomly threw it out of my window, I think you’d agree that this was a pretty daft idea. After all, who on earth would willingly give away money for no reason at all.

The plugin settings are in the usual settings category and when you click on wpsplittester plugin settings you can then click on the edit button to add your ads. The simple part of the plugin is once you get to the add your ad part, all you really need to do is just copy and paste the banner ad from whatever affiliate page you will be promoting. It really is as simple as copy and paste.

Once you have added a few banners either to the top, sidebar or bottom of your page you are done and the wpsplittester plugin will do its magic in keeping track of what banner is doing the best.

Unlike a lot of banner plugin managers that give you pre determined areas to display your ad, with the wp split tester plugin you can actually define where you want to split test. Now the one down side to all of this is sometimes with too many plugins there can be issues with the tracking. I also have the Maxblogpress Ninja Affiliate Plugin installed and finding that the tracking with the wpsplittester is getting messed up. The issue is I have too many plugins, which is a great lesson for us all.

There really isn’t any need to have a ton of plugins and if you use a good SEO’d theme like the Thesis Theme you can minimize how many plugins you use which is something I should go back and deactivate some of the plugins I have.

I have been using a new plugin lately for my blog that allows me to submit my post automatically to a handful of rss feed aggregators.

The software was put out by the guy as TakeOverPageOne.com and is called The Web Traffic Genius Software. I have been using it for about 3 weeks now, so I hope to share a little bit of my experiences and hopefully provide an honest review.

The web traffic genius software is all about rss and aggregating your rss feeds to a variety of rss feed aggregator sites.

By definition an aggregator is a place where you gather into a mass, sum, or whole all of your links or posts. Aggregators of rss are really a place to store information. All this really means for you is more natural backlinks to your website. Just like article syndication aggregetors allow your rss feeds to be syndicated.

I was looking for a way to automate my rss feed syndication and didn’t want something that was unnatural, but at the same time I wanted something easy. I wanted to look for the best free rss aggregator that was as automated as possible. Well as usual looking for the best aggregators for rss aren’t free, but I think I found the next best thing.

If you are using a blog then rss  is a natural sub component of publishing information  and allows your blog to syndicate information that allows your reader to keep up-to-date in real time with your rss fee.

After three weeks it is really hard to say if submitting my rss feeds to the aggregator sites has had any direct impact on being able to increase my rankings, but there is no doubt that rss is an important part of any blogger. You need to submit your feeds period. I never use to do it before because it took too much time and I didn’t feel like I could justify the cost of it in outsourcing.

For the price of the software this is pretty much a no brainer. I never have to think about my rss feeds again. Just like I am writing this post once it is posted the web traffic genius software will go out and post my feed on rss feed sites. The effect will probably be to instantly add backlinks and stabilize my ranking. As for this post I am wanting to rank for “the web traffic genius software review”. Not having to thinking about backlinking is nice and allows you to take a breather in the end.

Probably long term if you are thinking about blogging for a long time, the web traffic genius plugin and software just helps you build authority over the long term.

The end result is you need something to submit your rss feeds. This is probably the best and cheapest option to automate your rss feed submission.
